What is a portable appliance?
 
A portable appliance is an item of electrical equipment that is connected to the power supply via a plug and socket, an example of a portable appliance would be a television or desktop computer.
 
Why do I need to have it tested?
 
There are a number of factors why appliances need to be tested on a regular basis, but the most important include:-
 
1. To minimize the risk of fire and injury caused by electrical appliances
2. To satisfy your Insurance Company
3. To comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
4. To comply with all Health & Safety requirements. ISO 9000 & BS 5750
5. To comply with The Electricity at Work Regulations
